Christopher Rye began his journey into the world of visual storytelling in 2002 as a combat photographer in the US Marine Corps. For 12 years he has been travelling the world and capturing images that would otherwise go unseen to the public eye as he deployed to Iraq in 2004 and 2005 with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. After the deployment Christopher Rye continued his work in Okinawa, Japan as he followed the 31st MEU's training there and around the Asia Pacific. From 2005 through 2008 Chris became the district photographer/ webmaster/ lead magazine photo editor for the 12th Marine Corps Recruiting District. After his time there, Chris attached to the 1st Marine Division where he deployed three times with everything spanning from infantry, artillery, and Task Force Leatherneck. Chris is currently working for the U.S. Navy as a Photographic Technician for ordnance and propulsion testing while attending school at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online where he is pursuing his BS in digital photography and aspires to become a visual information specialist in the federal government or wherever the road takes him.
